GEORGIAN VISA INFORMATION


Do you need a visa for Georgia?

Typically, foreign nationals need a valid visa to enter a foreign country. Georgia has a fairly liberal visa policy – citizens of 98 countries can cross Georgia's borders, travel, work, and study without any visa or relevant permits. Furthermore, citizens holding a valid visa from another 50 countries can also stay in Georgia without a visa for a limited period and under certain conditions. Those who need a Georgian entry visa can obtain it either at the Georgian consulate or embassy or apply electronically.

Citizens of the following countries are eligible for visa-free entry to Georgia and can stay for up to 1 calendar year:

Citizens of the following countries can enter Georgia visa-free and stay for up to 90 days:

  • Uruguay
  • Chile

Citizens of the following country can enter Georgia visa-free and stay for up to 45 days:

  • Iran

Travelers with a valid visa or residence permit from certain countries can stay in Georgia for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Eligible countries include:

  • EU Countries

  • Liechtenstein

The visa or residence permit must be valid at the time of entry into Georgia (crossing the border).

Other Eligible Groups:

  • Foreign nationals with travel documents issued by the UN or specialized agencies (UN Laissez-Passer).
  • Holders of diplomatic or official passports from China, Egypt, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Peru.

Crew members of sea, air, and rail transport and travelers in transit through Georgia who have the right to enter the final destination country can stay in Georgia for up to 10 days without a visa.

VISA TYPES:

Before submitting visa documents, choose the required type. Georgian entry visas are divided into the following categories:

  • Diplomatic (A)
  • Special (B)
  • Ordinary (C)
  • Immigration (D)
  • Transit (T)

Visas are also classified into short-term and long-term. Short-term single visas are issued for the duration specified by the applicant but not exceeding 30 days. A short-term multiple-entry visa can be issued to someone who has visited Georgia at least once in the previous year and has reasons for a multiple-entry visa.

Ways to Apply for a Visa

E-VISA PORTAL

Suitable for short-term category C visa applications. Only people outside Georgia can use the e-portal, and they do not need to visit a consulate or embassy. Fees must be paid within 5 hours of receiving an email from the ministry.

E-APPLICATION SYSTEM

This system allows for applications of all visa types. After completing the online form, applicants must submit originals and copies of required documents to a Georgian consulate, embassy, or authorized service provider.

Visa Application Processing Time:

  • Short-term visa – 10 calendar days
  • Short-term visa (e-portal) – 5 business days
  • Long-term visa – 30 calendar days
  • Immigration visa – 10 calendar days
