- Mtskheta is an ancient city, it can be also called the open air museum, and many centuries ago it was a former capital of Easten Georgia. It is a spiritual heart of the entire country
- Our journey starts in the center of Tbilisi. We’ll take a short ride (around 30-40 minutes) through the contemporary capital of Georgia, its modern suburbs and afterwards through the picturesque rural part. Our way goes through the flat, emerald mountains, picturesque villages, then up to the top of the hill.
- Here will be our first stop – we’ll explore ancient and unique Jvari Monastery. It is considered to be the first monastery in Georgia. According to the historians it was built in V-VI century. Exactly here St. Nino set up the cross from a grapevine and began to preach Christianity. The monastery stands on the top of the hill. The slope of this hill goes down, straight to the place where two rivers, Kura and Aragvi, meet, to prolong they way together. The place is famous not only for its cultural and historical roots, but also for the spectacular, unforgettable view on the surrounding mountains and valleys.
- Afterwards we’ll prolong our way to Mtsketa. Here we’ll visit the famous monastery Svetitskhoveli, where the central cathedral of Georgia is situated. It was erected in the 10th century and it is still the setting for important ceremonies of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The kings of Georgia where crowned and buried in the Cathedral in the past. Unique frescos and can be seen on the walls of this monastery.
- We will explore the lovely and cozy pedestrian streets of Mtskheta. The center of the city was renovated and restored not so long ago, and now looks charming and attractive. Here we can find lots of small cafes, cute and unique stores. On the main street there is a small street market where one can see or even try different local products, such as churchkhela, honey or house wine.
- Afterwards we’ll stop for the lunch break (additional payment)
- We are returning back to Tbilisi to take part in the CITY TOUR
- Our tour will start at Rike park. Firstly, we’ll enjoy the fantastic panorama of the Old City on the opposite bank of the river, and walk a bit around the park. From the park we’ll take the cable car up to the Narikala Fortress - the main citadel of Tbilisi for many centuries.
- Then we will go down along the narrow, cute streets, with lovely green yards, and unique Tbilisi buildings, framed with grapevines and circled with a lacy balcony. Further we’ll pass by the mosque- the only one in Tbilisi.
- The beautiful walls of the mosque are staying on the bank of the small river, which runs sparkling and bubbling from the top of the hills straight to the Kura River. The river makes its way through the picturesque gorge. We will go up, along the gorge, and this path will bring us to the lovely waterfall, which is situated straight in the middle of the city.
- The following stop in our walking tour - Abanotubani (literally "the baths area"). It is well known spacious sulfur baths resort. In previous centuries this was not just a SPA center, but a place where friends and relatives met, spent a couple of relaxing hours and enjoyed the company of each other.
- Along the road, we will see lovely and cozy open cafes and small restaurants, which are famous for the Caucasian hospitality, incredibly tasty kitchen and wines.
- We will go across the well-known "Bridge of Peace", which spanned the Mtkhvari (Kura) River. It is remarkable for its futuristic design.
- Afterward, we’ll visit the famous Sioni Cathedral (built-in 17th century). Earlier it served as the main Cathedral and at the same time was the residence of the Patriarch of Georgia, until the construction of Holy Trinity Church was finished in 2004.
- Also we will see the oldest of the remained temples in Tbilisi — Anchiskhati (6th century BC)
