ANANURI-KAZBEGI
Today we are visiting one of the most spectacular regions of Georgia – the surroundings of the Kazbegi mountain. Breathtaking views on the gorgeous mountain range, the charming city of Stepanzminda and ancient Ananuri fortress. This will be the trip combining both – the natural beauties of Georgia and its history and cultural heritage.

- Our trip will start in the center of Tbilisi. After the short drive through the capital of Georgia we will enter the famous Georgian Military Road. This is a historic name for the main route which connects Georgia and Russia and passes through the Caucasus mountains.
- Our first stop will be at the Ananuri fortress. This is the medieval castle that was constructed to protect the trade route. The place is well-known not only for its rich history but also for the breathtaking views of the Zhinvali water reservoir. Ananuri castle was a scene of many battles through the centuries. It was protecting the surrounding lands from the numerous invaders, coming from the Darial Gorge. Now it is a peaceful place, famous for its outstanding views of the surrounding mountains.
- We will prolong our way along the Georgian Military Road, pass through the Gudauri Ski resort (one of the most popular in Georgia).
- Our next stop will be at Jvari pass (also known as a Cross pass) famous for its outstanding views and also travertine terraces. We’ll make lots of photos of the surroundings and also try the mineral water. Then we’ll prolong our way towards Kazbegi. Each turn of the road gives us a new stunning view.
- Soon we’ll reach the small town of Stepantsminda. This place is known as the best observation point giving a fantastic view of the gorgeous Kazbegi mountain, Caucasus and emerald alpine meadows. The height of Kazbegi is 5033 meters. We will go up to the Gergeti Trinity church on the 4x4 cars. The church is situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri, at an elevation of 2170 meters (7120 feet), under Mount Kazbegi. The church, lonely staying of the top of the mountain, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape, is one of the most famous Georgian landmarks.
- Afterward, we’ll return back to Tbilisi.
